Evening
Prayer
Lord,
before I go to sleep, I lay the burdens of the day down at your feet. Because
you don’t sleep, I can. It is my act of faith. Take my worries and my fears from
me.
Thank
you for what I experienced today—the good and the hard. Shall I take the good
from your hand but not the trouble? (Job 2:10) Redeem all things for your good
purposes. You will be faithful to work while I rest.
Take
the labor of the day, my words, and actions, and do with them what you intend.
Let my influence last so far as it brings you honor, the rest, let fade away.
Help me let go of hurt and forgive just as you have forgiven me for my many failings
today.
Restore
my strength and courage to face tomorrow. Bless my children with hearts that
love you and lives that serve you. Help me treasure my husband who lies next to
me as a testimony to your love and care. May we cling to each other until one of
us lays the other into your loving arms, Lord Jesus.
Help
me remember that I am dust and rejoice in the lot you have appointed for me.
May my heart be right with my loved ones and with you, should you choose to
take me home this night in the sleep of death.
I
give you my heart, my body, my worship and rejoice in the day I will wake to
eternal light, leaving behind the long, dark sleepless nights of the soul, to see
you face to face and embrace you forever.
Good
night!
Amen
